Personalization
Some companies simply hand out turkeys to employees who’ve worked with them for a certain length of time. While free turkeys are always nice, it doesn’t have the same connection or impact as personalized trophies. Opting to reward your employees with a trophy instead will create a more personal connection, and it’s something they can always have to look back and gain motivation from. A trophy is a symbol of accomplishment, so employees can feel good about working at the company.
You can also custom order trophies with the employee’s accomplishment engraved directly on it. For instance, if Joe is celebrating his 5th year at the company, you could order a trophy stating “Congratulations Joe on Celebrating Five Years With ‘Insert Company Name Here’” Having the trophies personalized for your employees will allow for a deeper connection, which ultimately benefits both the employees and the company as a whole.
When To Hand Out Milestone Marker Trophies
To really gain the full effect and benefit of milestone marker trophies, you should start handing them out to employees at the first year. The exact interval between the trophies is entirely up to you. Some companies hand them out for 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 years, while others may wait longer in between. Go ahead and plan out your intervals ahead of time so you won’t forget to reward any employees in the future.
Include Other Perks and Bonuses
As employees begin to reach significantly long milestone markers, you may want to reward them with additional perks and bonuses in addition to a personalized trophy. For instance, you may want to include a gift card or bonus with the trophy to employees who’ve worked for 10 or more years. Other gift ideas to consider include televisions, stereos, golf clubs, paid vacations or even the highly sought after “front row parking spot.” These are just a couple of ideas to consider when recognizing employees for their longevity on the job.
